The 2019 Firecracker Open (aka "Goofy Golf")
is scheduled for July13! As usual, the tournament will be
played in my yard (306 W. 57th St. in
Hinsdale), starting at about 4:30pm
YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PLAY TO ENJOY THE
PARTY AND FESTIVITIES!

Goofy
Golf is a backyard 18 hole 'miniature' (not to be confused
with 'putt-putt') golf course. Navigating
the course is accomplished by hitting your wiffle golf ball toward a child
sized styrofoam
life preserver. Some holes have fun obstacles such as water
hazards (kiddie pool) or rough (unmowed
grass). Obviously no expense is spared on the Goofy Golf
tour. A keen blade, a calm hand, and nerves of steel are
vital to survive the course.
We
will hold a cookout during/after the Firecracker Open.
Please bring your own meat for cooking. It's a great way to
enjoy the 19th hole as you come back to the Clubhouse.
As always, bring along other foods/beverages that may add a
little 'style' to the party.
For
those interested in playing, we will have tee times starting
around 4:30pm. Last tee time s/b around 7:30 so the course
can get picked up before the insects take over. All are
invited to play. If you have a couple of high-numbered golf
clubs/wedges, please bring them (hopefully there will be a
couple of spares available too). As the name implies, this
is meant to be fun and generally not very competitive.
THIS IS A KID-FRIENDLY EVENT.
(WELL-BEHAVED) CHILDREN ARE WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED TO
PLAY THE COURSE.
For
those not interested in hitting the links,
socialization and several other games will be
available. As always, please curb the discussions on
work/religion/politics....this is meant to be a
light-hearted/fun occasion.
PRIOR EVENTS
INCLUDED SEVERAL UNWANTED GUESTS IN THE HOUSE:
MOSQUITOES! GUESTS
ARE EXPECTED TO CLOSE THE DOOR BEHIND THEM WHEN GOING
IN/OUT. IN ADDITION, THE COURSE WILL “SHUT DOWN” EARLIER
THIS YEAR TO ABATE THE PROBLEM.
